Sanora is marked with a pair of towers, the map's sign for a place of some standing, and the name also appears in a list of places compiled in Ravenna. It is usually placed at Ordubad on the Aras river in Azerbaijan, though other sites have been proposed and some reference works leave it unlocated. Twenty-four Roman miles separate it from Geluina, and from here the roads run twelve miles to Lalla and twenty-four to Bustica.
