Three humps near Barium, now Bari, send a river called Aveldium to the Adriatic at the road station of Bardulos, the later Barletta. No other text, ancient or modern, knows that river, and older research suspected the map had moved it by mistake to the wrong bank of the Aufidus. The hills themselves are best read as the Murge, the high plateau of Apulia, sketched here, as usual on the map, in a few strokes.
