Island

Insula Sasonis

Sazan

Listen to the story

Insula Sasonis turns up twice on the Tabula, because another island elsewhere on the map carries exactly the same name. Insula simply means island, and this one is Sazan, a small island off the coast of Albania at the entrance to the Bay of Vlorë. The Roman writer Pliny already knew it by this name.
