Island
Insula Sardinia
Sardinia
Listen to the story
Insula Sardinia is drawn only in part, its name in red letters right at the edge of the parchment, where the final letter is badly damaged. The whole eastern and north-eastern part of the island is missing, and with it Tibula, the harbour where ships from Corsica came ashore. Seven towns are marked, yet there are no road lines between them, no distance figures, and not a single river or mountain. The Greeks, among them the geographer Ptolemy, called the island Sardo, and under Rome it formed one province together with Corsica.
