Insula Lipara

Lipari

Listen to the story

Insula Lipara simply means the island of Lipara, and the island keeps its old name today as Lipari, off the coast of Sicily in Italy. It is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, a small volcanic group, and in later centuries it became the seat of a bishop. The name follows the form the Greeks usually used, and a list of places compiled in Ravenna records the island as well.
