Flumen Tinna
Tenna
Listen to the story
A road station of the same name sits beside the mouth of the Flumen Tinna, perhaps marking the bridge where the coastal road crossed the river, or a halt beside it. The river is the Tenna in the Italian Marche, which rises in the Sibillini mountains and runs about eighty kilometres to the Adriatic between Porto Sant'Elpidio and Porto San Giorgio. The map draws it winding across two roads, its name written right across the mouth rather than by the source. One figure does not fit: the two Roman miles, about three kilometres, given from the station to Castellum Firmanum are far too few.
