River

Fl. N.N.

Listen to the story

This flumen, the Latin word for a river, flows through the map's Indian lands without any name of its own. Its course is still telling. The line of water is read as an arm of the Ganges, springing from a mountain the map labels Daropanisos, one of the ranges with which the copyist's model framed the far eastern edge of the known world.
