River

Fl. Hylas

Listen to the story

The river called Fluvius Hylas flows across the map in Asia Minor, drawn as a line of water with no name beside it; Hylas is a label that scholars supplied later. It runs between Prusa and Nicaea, today's Bursa and İznik in Turkey. Several rivers cross that ground, and which of them the mapmaker meant to show cannot be determined.
