Region

Deserta

Listen to the story

Deserta simply means the deserted lands, the empty country where no one settled. The word stands close to the island drawn in the Euphrates and marks the Syrian desert, the region the geographer Ptolemy called Arabia Deserta, desert Arabia. Unusually for the name of a whole region, it is written in black rather than in red.
