Ad Zizio

Mosko, N Trebinje oder Ukšić bei Ljubomir

Listen to the story

Ad Zizio is known by this name only from the Tabula, which makes the map the earliest record of the place; a list of places compiled in Ravenna knows it as Zidion and as Assidium. It lay in the hills of eastern Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but scholars disagree on the exact spot. Older research placed it at Trebinje or Mosko, while later research favours Ukšić in the field of Ljubomir, where fragments of inscriptions and milestones, stretches of road and buildings with mosaics have been found, and where the real distance matches the figure on the map.
