Road station

Ad Publicanos

(near Alberville) (Barrington)

The map gives only three miles, about four and a half kilometres, from Ad Publicanos to the next station, Obilonna. The station stood near Albertville, at Conflans, where a branch road left for Annecy and Geneva. Its name, at the tax collectors, recalls the customs post where the Gallic duty on goods was levied; one older scholar thought it was a toll for the bridge and the passage. The Roman register of routes knows it under the same name, and a modern atlas keeps it near Albertville.
