Road station
Ad Pontem
Evtl. St. Georgen ob Judenburg · Lind (Barrington)
Listen to the story
Ad Pontem is drawn on the road from the Tauern towards Virunum, and just beyond it the scribe had to dodge a hole in the parchment: the figure of fourteen miles on to Noreia is set aside to avoid it, so the hole was already there when the map was copied. The name means at the bridge, though the map draws no river here; the station probably lay at St. Georgen ob Judenburg, where a large settlement stood at a crossing of the Mur.
