Pontarlier
Abiolica is Ariolica, today Pontarlier in the French Jura, at a junction of roads between Besançon and Yverdon. The map miscopies the name, and the Roman register of routes writes Ariorica; in the Middle Ages the place was called Pons Arecii, from which the modern name comes. On the map the road to Avenches branches off here, but in reality it left the main road further on, at Urba, today Orbe, a station the map leaves out altogether.
