Listen to the story
Sinomagi was a town in Roman Britain, on the road that led from Venta Icenorum, near Norwich, towards London. The map gives it the familiar pair of towers, yet the name sits beside the drawing rather than above it, an unusual placement that leaves a small doubt whether the two really belong together. A Roman register of routes lists the same stop, but its site has never been fixed. It lay somewhere in Suffolk; Dunwich has been suggested, though that identification is far from certain.
