City
Salamina
~ Famagusta
Listen to the story
Salamina is the map's name for Salamis, which a Roman-era scholar called the greatest and most important city of Cyprus, with a large and excellent harbour near the river Pediaeus. In late antiquity it was renamed Constantia. Its ruins lie on the coast about five kilometres from Famagusta. On the Tabula the roads end here with no onward stretch: one arrives from Thremitus, eighteen Roman miles away, another from Citari, twenty-four miles away, and a third from Cito, for which the map gives no figure.
