Rimesica

Listen to the story

Rimesica is written in red letters across the northern Balkans, not as a station but as the name of a region. It marks a stretch of land held by the Rimesii, a people described as Celtic, and counted as one of the districts of the area. The same tribe also settled widely between Naissus and Sardica, today's Niš and Sofia, where their chief town, Remesiana, later had its own bishops, recorded in 398 and 449.
