River

Fl. N.N.

Listen to the story

An unnamed river, drawn without any label, crosses the part of the map given to Syria and Palestine. It is a strangely slender line, and older research dismissed it as nothing more than a crease in the parchment. Later research treats it, with caution, as a real watercourse, because it runs so neatly from a mountain range down to the shore. It may correspond to the small river system between Ioppe, today's Jaffa, and Apollonia on the coast.
