Road station
Anarus
Anarus, the first station on the road from Ecbatana towards Tazora, is a name no ancient writer mentions, so it can neither be dated nor placed with certainty. Older research saw it as a border post between Media and the district of Rhagai, perhaps on the river Anabar near Delidjan, while another proposal points to Nowaran. The map adds a puzzle: right after Ecbatana the road makes a bend with a figure but no name. Counted in Persian parasangs, that figure, thirty-seven, matches the distance the Arab geographers give from Ecbatana to Saveh.
