Ad Mercurium

Bou Rekba (Barrington) · Bordj Ali Mansur (Miller)

Listen to the story

A small house marks Ad Mercurium on the road from Carthage to Sicilibba, a settlement named after Mercury, the god of merchants and profit. An inscription naming a 'pagus Mercurialis', a rural district of Mercury, ties it to Bordj Ali Mansur in Tunisia. It lay two Roman miles from Inuca and four from Ad Pertusa, and that four is written straight after the name instead of below it on the road.
