Taygetos?

Listen to the story

The nameless range here is probably the Taygetus, the mountain wall above Sparta, praised for its height and steepness since Homer and called the Five Fingers in Byzantine times. On the map, together with a river, it seems to mark the border of Arcadia, which the map, tilting the Peloponnese on its side, sets in the south instead of the centre. The rivers are muddled too: the one labelled Pamisus is really the Eurotas.
