Listen to the story
The Cinyps, a river of Libya, rises in this nameless range, and ancient writers disagree about where that was. The Greek historian Herodotus names the densely wooded Hill of the Graces; Ptolemy names the Girgyris, the mons Gyri of the Roman writer Pliny, but sets it far to the south, so another of his mountains, the Zuchabbari, which the river cuts through, may fit the map better.
