Mons Taburnus

Monte Taburno

Listen to the story

Virgil wrote of the olive groves of Mons Taburnus, and older research found this mountain in the seven humps, almost identical in shape and size, that the map draws between Abellinum, now Avellino, and the station of Ad Teglanum. Later research doubts it: the real Monte Taburno, with the Caudine Forks at its foot, lies too far away, and the humps more likely stand for the heights of Avella near Avellino.
