Island

Insula N.N.

Listen to the story

Insula, simply 'island', is the label modern editors give to a small circular island that the copyist of around 1200 drew without any name at all. If it ever carried one, no trace survives. It sits among the islands in the part of the map covering Asia beyond the Euphrates and south of the Taurus mountains, a plain round shape in the water.
