Cutias

Cozzo

Listen to the story

Cutias was a mutatio, a staging post where travellers on the road between Pavia and Turin could change horses, and it survives as the village of Cozzo in Lombardy. A pilgrim's route from Bordeaux lists it as the changing station at Cottiae, and four inscribed cups found at Vicarello name it too, as do a milestone of the emperor Antoninus Pius found nearby. The Tabula gives it a pair of towers, a drawing that seems to have been reworked. Beyond the station the line towards Turin breaks off, so an unknown number of stops may have been lost.
