Road station

ab aquis

Ab Aquis Tacapa milia, followed by the figure sixteen, is a road note in capital letters: from Aquae, the waters, to Tacapa, Gabès, sixteen miles, about twenty-four kilometres. On the parchment the words run together, and older research read them as aqui stacapa. The Roman register of routes counts eighteen miles for the same stretch.
