In Alperio

Trnova Poljana

Listen to the story

In Alperio was probably no town at all but a mountain halt, perhaps a mere shelter hut, on the pass over Mount Prolog near the village of Prolog, west of Livno in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Here the Roman road was cut into the living rock, and an inscription records its builder: Flavius Maximus made it. A milestone found nearby counts thirty-four Roman miles, about fifty kilometres, from Salona. The pair of towers drawn beside the name seems to belong to the next station, Aequo. A list of places compiled in Ravenna may name the same spot as Arberie.
