Road station
unnamed / illegible, no. T
Listen to the story
Here the map does something unusual: instead of a bare figure, it writes out the stretch in Latin, from Thasarte to Silesua, twelve miles, literally twelve thousand paces. That makes the unnamed stop between the two a puzzle, because the label names no place on the way, unlike a similar note in Italy that leads from Hostilia by way of the Po. The kink in the road line may instead mark difficult ground, such as a passage through a valley.
