Paludes

Listen to the story

Paludes is simply Latin for "the marshes", and the word stands on the map in red, not as a road station but as a label for a stretch of water beyond the Euphrates. It is usually taken to mean the great Euphrates swamps, once known as the Chaldaean lakes, the wetlands of lower Mesopotamia.
