Lugdunum Convenarum
St-Bertrand-de-Comminges
Listen to the story
Lugdunum Convenarum, the town of the Convenae people, is marked on the Tabula by a town symbol with no name beside it at all. A road from Aquae simply ends there, with no onward stretch. Scholars identify the nameless symbol from its road links; some would continue the route to Tolosa, though no certainty is possible. The geographer Ptolemy calls the town a colony, and Gregory of Tours describes it standing on an isolated hill. Today it is Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges in south-western France, rich in Roman remains.
