Lacus N. N. is simply a scholars' label for a lake the map leaves nameless, drawn in the part of Asia beyond the Sea of Azov and the Taurus mountains. Instead of a name, the copyist wrote a short Latin note beside the water: a lake of salt works, where salt forms of its own accord.
