Baca Conervio is a squeezed rendering of Bagacum Nerviorum, the town of the Nervii, a Gallic people whose capital it was. The site is Bavay, in the French département of Nord near the Belgian border, and the Tabula marks it with a pair of towers where four of its roads meet. The town was founded as part of Agrippa's road programme for Gaul, and by the second century it had grown into a planned town with a double forum. After its destruction in the mid-third century, only the old forum stayed inhabited, walled in as a fortress.
