Road station

unnamed / illegible, no. 64

This unnamed stop on the road to Damascus is marked only by a kink in the road line, twenty-four Roman miles beyond Aenos. The stretch on to Damascus carries no figure and crosses a river. In the 1976 photograph of the map a second small kink seems to sit in that river, as if the stretch were split in two, but the older photograph of 1888 shows that this kink is an illusion.
