Mountain
mountain, no. 19
(Rätische Alpen?)
Listen to the story
Only the river flowing from it identifies this nameless range: the Afesia, the Adige, which rises in South Tyrol at the Reschen Pass. Measured by that, the map sets the mountains in quite the wrong place. Perhaps river and range are a faint memory of the Via Claudia Augusta, the road that followed the Adige valley over the pass towards Augsburg and is missing from the map, but that idea is still unproven.
